Air Rescue Systems Launches Next Generation Training with Hoist Expert Mike Martin as Vice President of Training to Enhance Global Rescue Instruction
roomfield, CO – March 3, 2025— Air Rescue Systems (ARS), a Vita Inclinata company, providing advanced technology, comprehensive helicopter rescue training, and field-proven equipment, announced today the appointment of Mike Martin as Vice President of Training. With 18 years of extensive Rescue Hoist and MEDEVAC Operations experience, he will spearhead ARS’s initiative to expand and enhance its training programs, ensuring rescue professionals across military, law enforcement, EMS, and firefighting agencies receive the most advanced and mission-ready instruction available.
Over the past 13 years, Mike has trained alongside military units across all branches and multiple countries, as well as with Search and Rescue (SAR) teams, law enforcement, hospitals, EMS providers, fire departments, CAL FIRE, FEMA, and other federal agencies. Leveraging his extensive experience, he will spearhead the development of next-generation training techniques, integrating real-world rescue simulations to revolutionize aerial rescue operations across the globe. By infusing ARS's robust training programs with customized methods and innovative technologies, he aims to fortify the organization's impact on the safety and efficiency of air rescue missions worldwide.
Currently serving as a Utah National Guardsman with the U.S. Army, Mike is well-versed in completing high-stakes rescue operations. As a trusted subject matter expert in Rescue Hoist and MEDEVAC Operations, he has advised top military agencies, including the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization (DES), on best practices for hoist operations and MEDEVAC rescues. His experience investigating and improving safety protocols after fatal hoist mishaps underscores his commitment to advancing training that prevents operational failures and increases mission success rates.
Within the National Guard, Mike has played a key role in multiple stateside hoist rescues, earning Sikorsky Rescue Awards. He has also contributed to domestic operations, including aerial water bucket missions for complex fire incidents. As an instructor for the past nine years, he has developed, implemented, and trained crewmembers on Advanced Hoist Programs, Unique Sling Load Operations, and various Water Bucket Mission Sets— all of which will support ARS’s expansion into new training courses and the enhancement of existing ones, while remaining committed to our core principles of safer and more efficient rescues.
"Mike’s ability to merge tactical expertise with real-world emergency response makes him the ideal leader to drive ARS's next phase of advanced training," said Bob Cockell, President of ARS. "We’re honored to welcome such an accomplished expert whose leadership will not only elevate our existing programs but also introduce innovative training opportunities to the search and rescue community."
"ARS has built a reputation for world-class rescue training, and I’m excited to take it to the next level," said Mike Martin, Vice President of Training at ARS. "Our team of instructors will be using adaptability and innovation to expand our training program with the mentality of providing the best possible material to our customers across the Military, Law Enforcement, EMS, and Fire. Our motto is to always assume there’s a better way of preparing responders for complex rescues!”
As Vice President of Training, Mike will lead the customization of ARS’s specialized training to accommodate a wider variety of air rescue organizations. Whether an established rescue organization seeking advanced instruction and an external perspective or a newcomer requiring foundational training, ARS will tailor its curriculum to meet each organization's specific needs.
