Job Description

During helicopter hoist rescue missions, the rescuer, swimmer, or litter often undergoes hazardous motion due to the movement of the helicopter above, and other variables such as weather and rotor wash. The unrestricted pendulum-like motion greatly endangers the success of the mission, and moreover, the personnel involved. 

Vita Inclinata technologies is developing autonomous systems to solve this problem. We seek technical professionals with a strong knowledge base in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, physics, control systems, software design, prototyping, and creative thinking to join our innovative team.

The ideal candidate has a wide range of mechanical design, manufacturing, and analysis knowledge. In The candidate should also have a general knowledge of aerospace systems, control systems, circuit design, and electro mechanical systems. Specific duties include:

  • Frequently collaborates with Vita Design team on innovations, ideation sessions, design reviews, and testing protocols
  • Designing structural components and composite hardware for airborne systems
  • Analysis: creating models to simulate design behaviors, failure modes, and impact points; Optimize designs following results of aggregated data
  • Develops mechanical systems by studying requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electro-mechanical components; soliciting observations from operators
  • Assures product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.
  • Develops QA guidelines for testing & analysis of received mechanical designs & products

Desired Skillsets

  • A minimum of two (2) years of mechanical or aerospace engineering experience at university
  • Extensive knowledge of aerospace/mechanical design and manufacturing principles and techniques
  • Hands on experience developing, building, and testing mechanical hardware
  • Knowledge of composites design and analysis, including DFM & DFA
  • Rapid prototyping experience utilizing 3D printing and other techniques
  • Experience drafting mechanical drawings, GD&T experience is a plus
  • Extensive CAD modeling experience (ideally SolidWorks)
  • Experience utilizing MATLAB or other numerical modeling platforms to analyze and verify proposed designs
  • General knowledge of dynamic modeling, control systems, and electro-mechanical systems
  • All-around problem-solving aptitude
